Your business has paid money for your website to be designed and built. Google Analytics has been installed on your website so you can view your website statistics. You find that a month after your website was launched, you have very small visitor numbers.

Why isn’t anyone coming to your website?

There are 3 main reasons:

1.If your domain name is brand new, Google will rank your website lower than older domains.

2.If your website home page does not have the right keywords, people will not be able to find your website on Google. Your website home page title needs to ideally have the following information in it: business industry, business location, your business name. This means when people search for “plumbing South Perth, they’ll be more likely to find your website returned in the search results because those words are in your home page title. Your home page title is *the most important* location for keywords on your website. You should also include a heading on your home page which includes business industry, location, e.g.French restaurant Subiaco. Your CMS (content management system) should allow you to format this heading using a H1 (header 1) tag.

3.If no 3rd party websites link to your website, Google doesn’t trust your website as much as if they did. This can be solved by working to get other trusted authority websites to link to your website. You can submit your site to the following local business directories to gain a link to your website: Local Search, Search Frog, Pure Local, Yelp Australia, Hot Frog Australia, Start Local, Go Guide, Yellow Pages, True Local, Local Business Guide.
