Should you invest in a quality business card, or a quality website?

I’ll argue that you should invest in both, but also that your website is more important.

1. Reach

With a business card, you are limited by how many you can hand out, or deliver.

With a website, your reach is much longer, being limited only by how well your website is optimized for search engines. If your website is well optimized, your reach is extended to all the people searching for the keywords you’re using on your website, both in your own city, nationally, and internationally.

2. Content

Clearly you can fit far more content on a website than a business card, including videos and lead capture forms.

3. E-Commerce

You can sell products and services (and receive payment) from your website.

4. Automation

With a marketing automation platform like Ontraport, Marketo, or Infusionsoft, you can automate your lead nurturing process.

Everything is manual with a business card.

5. Don’t ditch your business card.

A business card with your website URL included is a great way to get people into your lead nurturing process. It’s still a good idea to use business cards.
